Dr. Roger LeBlanc leads a dynamic team of health care professionals in an effort to provide innovative research capabilities to a diverse population of patients infected with HIV / AIDS and Hepatitis B/C. Dr. LeBlanc has been the principal investigator of more than 50 clinical trials over the last 20 years. Major pharmaceutical companies around the world seek his expertise where he sits on many advisory boards.
The research division at OPUS has been designed to create the ideal environment to enable the progress and advancement of research all the while ensuring the well being of each participant as the priority.
The core research team consists of two clinical research coordinators (Tess Elsworthy and Sergio Guber) and a research nurse (France Savoie). It explores diverse fields such as infectious disease, mental health, drug addiction management, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The research team is devoted to providing a warm and welcoming environment for study participants with an individualized patient-centered approach.
The clinical research administrative infrastructure was developed under consultation of Clinical Research Solutions. Internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in accordance to both Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Canadian regulations and ensures a quick and seamless study start up. All research staff are well versed in a number of eCRF and clinical management platforms and have extensive experience with all the private ethics boards. They are also trained on GCP, internal SOPs, and regulatory affairs every two years to comply with clinical research regulations.
The research facilities at OPUS include a refrigerator, -20C and -80C freezers that are all temperature/humidity controlled and monitored on emergency back-up generators. We have a dedicated laboratory including refrigerated centrifuges. Our on-site pharmacy stores and dispenses investigational products for all our clinical studies. Diagnostic procedure such as ECG, and Fibroscan are available on-site, and all imaging procedures are done by an off-site facility less than 2 km away. Monitors have a dedicated closed office with access to high speed Internet, photocopiers, printers, fax and phone.
